Auber temp
« on: March 15, 2015, 01:35:24 PM »
Trying to smoke some ribs by time. Set temp to 225 but unit does not climb above 175-180. Made sure probe was not on anything and noticed the temp dropped when I lifted the probe slightly. Finally removed Auber and am cooking by the dial which turned off burner when I dropped the dial to 220. I took the Auber inside and put the probe in the oven at 220 degrees. Probe works fine in there and was actually reading higher not lower. Any thoughts?

When you were running the Auber did you have the dial on the smoker turned all the way up to the maximum setting? If not the Auber was fighting against the controler in the smoker.

Yes it was all the way up. After I removed it and plugged the smoker in direct, when i turned the knob down it kicked off at about 230 degrees but the Auber was saying around 175.  After testing it in the oven (and it worked fine), I put the probe back in the smoker and it read around 175 again??
