My experience with the Rib rack is ........................it is great if you are Smoking more then a few slabs of Baby back ribs , because the wider the Slab on normal pork ribs ( unless maybe St Louis Style ) they will have a tendency to roll over on top of each other due to the width of the slab which is something I learned on my very first smoke .

Totally agree with everyone's advice, Eric!  Just get the #2 and a cheap remote thermometer, then add the rest later!  You will have no problem, at all, producing some really great Q with just the smoker, while saving for the optional accessories!  The difference in shelf size, between the #1 and 2, is 1 1/2" depth and 2 1/2" width.  Doesn't sound like much, but when combined with the height difference, it's HUGE!  Definitely go the #2.
