Water resistant Maverick probe
« on: December 19, 2014, 10:16:59 AM »
I wonder if anyone has tried these?

Made in the USA and designed to work with the Mavericks.

Or do I just wait and see how much the new Maverick probes as included with the new ET-735 cost?

My current probes are starting to act wonky and think I am going to have to replace them at some point no matter what. During my last smoke, both probes intermittently had issues. One of them went dead for about 30 minutes where the Maverick just showed LLL and the other one reported temp started dropping from 225 down to less than 100. But, the internal temp of the butt kept going up and the indicator light on the smoker kept cycling. So I know the smoker was at temp and not the bizarre temp that the smoker probe was reporting. Eventually they came back, so all was not lost.

I don't know, but at 20 bucks a pop, I think I'd spend another $30 and just get the new 735 with the Maverick probes.  Seems like $40 for 2 probes is a little steep.

I don't like the Idea of having to use a phone to monitor the temps. Drain on the phone battery and you would have to turn it on every time you wanted to see the temp.

Plus, it doesn't work with my Windows phone.

Maybe see what they sell the new Maverick probes for first.

Since they don't appear to be water resistant, I think I'll stick with my Maverick.

I think my best bet will be to wait and see how much Maverick charges for their new water resistant probes.
