Drip Pan Fail
« on: August 25, 2015, 10:14:13 PM »
So,

Who else is willing to admit that they forgot to put the drip pan under the smoker and returned to find a nice puddle underneath?

On a positive note it was only 2 racks of St Louis style ribs.

On another positive note, the ribs were awesome.

Hey Travis, have not done that but have left the water pan on top of the smoker. And went to add it talk about a box full of smoke. But, as long as the ribs were good that is all that counts.

Been there, done that, Travis!  You think that's bad, how about smoking a pork butt (lots of drippings), and not realizing that you didn't punch a drain hole in the foil until the smoker was about 200°?  That's quite a Chinese fire drill at 4 in the morning, let me tell you! :o :o

There was a thread a few months ago about a larger drip pan. Had a link to Amazon to purchase it. Which I did. Perfect fit I might add.

for me, a brisket. Juice all over. then I realized that I did put the pan under (old #2, pan sits on ground). Had to follow the dogs around to get it back.  Good news tho...got the pan back and the dogs polished the patio concrete trying to lick up the juices!!!!
