I agree on the auto tune, Steve said the D models do not need to be auto tune.
Well....definitely a yes, and no, on that. It's not something you need to do, right out of the box, for sure. The vast majority of owners are satisfied with the factory settings for each smoker. However, if you are having any issues with the controller holding steady temps, it's not a bad idea. Environmental factors (heat/humidity) can have an effect on how fast the smoker heats and cools, as can other factors. Bottom line? If it ain't broke, don't fix it! But, if you're not happy with how tight the temps are holding, try an autotune using the instructions in the Auber Instructions section. Just write down the current P, I and D settings, in case you want to revert back.
