Beef brisket or flat?
« on: August 01, 2015, 12:40:21 PM »
Which one is better beef brisket or the flat?? It seems as though the flat is considerably more expensive. What do you all use? Which would be harder to screw up for a first time smoker? (Well I have made 3 pork butts, but would like to eventually try beef next).

Thanks

The brisket flat is just more expensive because it has been trimmed.  It is the hardest piece to get right in the smoker.  A whole brisket is a better first time choice.  BTW, a "flat" is just a muscle that is part of the overall brisket.
