Some smoke coming out around the door
« on: November 19, 2017, 03:58:32 PM »
Have had my #2 for about 3 weeks and am on my 5th smoke today I noticed some smoke coming from around the door. Is that a normal and expected occurrence. If this is covered somewhere else on the forum and I missed it, I apologize. BTW- it is not a ton of smoke

It's quite normal and as the soot builds up a little bit it will likely quit.  Unless it's really excessive (and it doesn't sound like that) then it won't cause any problems even if it doesn't quit.  I don't remember how many smokes I did before my #2 quit, but it definitely did it at first and it's a total non-issue now.

Yep, had the same experience with the first couple of smokes in the little big #1 and by yesterdays 5th go zero smoke from around the door ... seems it's all settled in now.

It happens, it does take time to season the smoker. I had that issue the first year of smoking. It will eventually go away.
