Persimmon Tree
« on: July 24, 2017, 12:38:37 PM »
Hey guys, I just cut down a small Persimmon tree in my yard.  Anyone know if I can use the wood for smoking?  I have seen different fruit trees but never persimmon.

I have no idea where I got it, but I just looked up Persimmon on a smoking wood spreadsheet that I have printed out, and it says that Persimmon is, "Medium smoke - great for Boston butt & ribs".  Further comments say "Excellent with beef, pork, and poultry.

HTH. Let us know what you think if you use it.

We have a persimmon tree in our yard.  Produces about 60 fruits per year. The wood is off limits. Still, I may have to do some selective priming😁
