Just used my model 1 successfully.  First couple of times were a disaster. For the last 20 years I've been using an Oklahoma Joe's with great success.  Decided to join the modern world after it succumbed to age.  I think in "smoker years" that's like a 140 or something.  I have lots of questions for sure.
