Was I supposed to buy the temperature probe separate?
« on: September 27, 2016, 03:12:21 PM »
Got auber in today along with the cold smoke plate. It came with two probes. A meat probe and a probe that gives you a reading of the temperature inside the box. I don't see a probe like the ones I have read about and seen pics of on here. Do I need to order it separately?

Answered my own question and just got one. Can I still program it with the probe that came with it?

Chris, you can autotune with the drop-in probe.  Just be sure to try and clip it in the same spot, every time you use it, or the tuning may be a little off.  The wall probe eliminates that.  They used to give you the option of drop in or wall probe, when you ordered.

Cool. I'm auto tuning now. I know I have to do it again when the fixed one comes in but I think I got the process right. There are a couple of good YouTube videos out there that helped a lot.

No.  Follow the instructions in the Auber Instructions section, and you won't go wrong.

Auber has been working great. Probe came in today but I won't be able to pop it in until next week. One inch from top and dead center right.

Chris, 1 to 1 1/4" from the top, and to the right of center (like in the pics).  You have to contend with the back brace, and the spot welds.  Just keep it up high, in that range, and you'll be OK.
