50K?
« on: August 10, 2016, 02:37:00 PM »
We are at 48000 plus posts. Anyone have an idea when the forum will break 50K?  I'm guessing 3 Oct 2016. (Too much time on my hands today).

Our community just keeps growing by the day.  I'll say around Halloween on the 50,000 post guesstimation.  Got a lot of time on my hands too Dave, got laid off a couple of weeks ago.

Sorry to hear that, Dale!

Dave, the growth is crazy, and I bet you're about right.  Love to drag this screenshot out, from a couple of weeks after I joined, to show how far we've come!

If folks want to compare, they can scroll down to the bottom of the home page for today's stats.

Edit:  I've also posted today. ;D

Dale, tough break on the job. Pulling for you and hope you find something soon.  Best of luck to you.

Yes, this forum (and the site/SI in particular) has really grown fast.

October 15 is my guess for topping 50,000. Maybe there should be a prize for 1) correctly guessing the date, and 2) being the 50,000th post? I checked out the stats, and I am not in any of the top 10. Going to need to work on that. This post should help :o

I am WAY behind on posts but I simply haven't been cooking much lately :( I have sold off some of my cookers recently as well. The SI isn't going anywhere though ;)

With that said, I have been eying a new toy, lol. My Wife would punch me in the back of the face should I buy it though, but I am almost to the point of just doing it and apologizing later. The issue is it's REAL expensive (at least to me). Ah....decisions decisions, lol.

As for my guess, October 4th at approximately 6:38 PM EST and it will be by Old Sarge, in the study with a knife no less.

Dale, sorry about the job thing but sometimes God closes a door but then opens a window ;) Hang in there!

Well what was sold?:)

Election day Nov would be too late for the 50k post but it would be one way to remember two events.

Our community just keeps growing by the day.  I'll say around Halloween on the 50,000 post guesstimation.  Got a lot of time on my hands too Dave, got laid off a couple of weeks ago.

I got laid off last summer and it was a struggle for a couple of months. But, I found a great job abeit a little less money, but I was ready for a change after working at the same place for 13 years.

I'm going to say October 8th for the 50K. :)

I don't want to violate any of the board's policies by mentioning it or saying too much about it but if you google KBQ, you'll find PRECISELY what I'm talking about ;)

Well what was sold?:)

Election day Nov would be too late for the 50k post but it would be one way to remember two events.

I sold my Pit Barrel Cooker after using it 5-6 times and also my newest pellet grill, the Pitboss 440D. I too had cooked on it about 5-6 times. I liked them both well enough, I just wanted to declutter a little. I plan on moving in a year or so and need to start planning for that. So....the urge to buy a new smoker is counter intuitive to say the least, lol. It's a waste of money in all seriousness, it's just a want and not a need at all. I am fighting the urge to buy it, it's the exact opposite of Lazy-Q. It's the SI's evil twin brother lol.

Oh good grief!  It may sound odd, but I really never even look at the "post count" section!  I just have a good time, doing what we do so well here, and just keep on keepin' on!  Nice of you all to notice, but it' just a number, after 3 1/2 years of doing what I wish every member would do...participate!  Never thought is was a contest, or "milestone," I guess!

Thank you, though, to those that noticed and pointed it out! :D

And yes... 10k by next week! ;)
