Title: Jerky dryer broke down.
Post by: septemberelk on May 13, 2017, 02:03:15 AM
I've been running my jerky dryer while smoking my bacon and it has been working great. I went to start a batch this morning and I found the coating for the wires was bare and shorting out. I managed to patch it up to get my bacon done but I will have to get a new one before I do anymore smoking. The bacon turned out excellent.

every time i buy something that has a plug like that, or even a jack like headphones.. i wrap a few turns of electric tape around it up the wire. makes a world of difference

You just need to replace the plug, correct? Following Stout's idea, a couple of layers of shrink tube might go a long ways.
